I feel like it’s been ages since I wrote a Seeing Things post, but it wasn’t so long ago. It’s that a lot has happened in the time in between. We went to Ludington, Michigan for the holidays to Will’s folks. Came back home for New Years in Kansas and much, much, more.  The library where I work packed up it’s books and belongings and moved to a temporary location while waiting out an expansive renovation. The image above is of the children’s room. It looked so eerie and sad without it’s books. Like the life was taken out of a room. I’m looking forward to opening the doors to the public and in a couple of weeks when we can resume storytimes and such. Books make a big difference, but in the end it’s the people who bring a library to life.

We signed a lease on a new house with an end of summer move date. Yes, we are moving again. At least this time it’s within the same zip code!

Last week, we traveled down to Dallas to visit my family. L stayed with my mom and sister for a two days while Will and I spent time together in Fort Worth. Alone. Sans child. This was a first. It’s funny how after we had L, we have to re-learn how to be alone together whenever the occasion presents itself. It’s easy hectic schedules to become disconnected. It was good for us. We also celebrated our wedding anniversary this past week.  Where does the time go?

To wrap everything up, L had her first haircut. That wild, untamable mane of her’s finally got a trim. The morning of the day she was to get her haircut I said to her, “You’re going to get your haircut today. Isn’t that exciting?”

And she responded, “With purple in it? Like a mermaid?”

Maybe we should cut back on fairy tales… NEVER! Lucky for her, the salon had purple hair chalk. Her wish was granted.

Mermaid hair.

Oh my gosh!! Her first haircut?! I hope it was just trim…I just love her hair, it’s beautiful!!!

It was a 2-inch trim, but you can barely tell. Her hair was getting so tangled and ratty-looking that it had to be done. Now, it’s so much easier (and less painful) to comb. Happy kid. Happy parents. 🙂
